{"id":13,"date":"2005-04-24T21:31:46","date_gmt":"2005-04-25T01:31:46","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/stoney.sb.org\/?p=13"},"modified":"2005-04-24T21:31:46","modified_gmt":"2005-04-25T01:31:46","slug":"moving-to-dreamhost","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/stoney.sb.org\/wordpress\/moving-to-dreamhost\/","title":{"rendered":"Moving to DreamHost"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>\nAfter nine years with <a href=\"http:\/\/www.pair.com\/\">Pair<\/a>, I&#8217;m moving to <a href=\"http:\/\/www.dreamhost.com\/\">DreamHost<\/a>.\n<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>\nTheir sale (ending April 24) was too good to pass up. Over 7 GB of on-line storage for $16\/month! I can put my <a href=\"http:\/\/gallery.menalto.com\/\">Gallery<\/a> photo albums there.\n<\/p>\n<p>\nThis is all necessary because I&#8217;m dropping my T1 from <a href=\"http:\/\/www.savvis.com\/\">Savvis<\/a> this summer when the contract expires. When I started it, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.comcast.com\">Comcast<\/a> had just shown up in <a href=\"http:\/\/www.concordma.com\/\">Concord<\/a>, and couldn&#8217;t give me the service I needed. There are many more alternatives now, and I can&#8217;t justify keeping a T1 and paying 10x Comcast&#8217;s fee.\n<\/p>\n<p>\nOver the next few months, I&#8217;ll be migrating my web sites and those I manage to DreamHost. I&#8217;ve spent the last few days exploring it, and am quite satisfied with what I found. They have a much better &#8220;control panel&#8221; than Pair, and their policies are very flexible. Since they&#8217;ve been around since 1997, I hope that means they&#8217;re stable.
