Safari 3.1 in, Pith Helmet Out

I realized too late (again) that updating Safari causes Pith Helmet to refuse to load. I wonder if there’s a surge in ad impressions between the time that Safari updates and Pith Helmet updates to match?

Fortunately, bumping Pith Helmet’s MaxBundleVersion to 5525 lets it load, and so far I haven’t seen any problems.

I hate flash ads.

I finally figured out how to cook pot stickers!

Tonight I had a sudden inspiration while cooking pot stickers, and managed to cook them without any tears or holes.

Previously, I had tried to keep them from sticking to the wok by moving them around while they were cooking. Tonight, I decided to try leaving them alone. It turns out that they release from the pan when they brown! Perfect stickers!

This seems so zen-ish. Don’t try to deny their essential pot-stickyness. Go with the flow.

Patriot’s Day 2005

It was a beautiful day for the Patriot’s Day parade.

Intellicast says it got up to 65, but with the clear sky and warm sun, it was perfect. I took about 60 pictures with my Sony F828. I posted the good ones here on .mac. Unfortunately, I forgot that I’d set the camera for manual focus, so the first 10 or so pics were too blurry.

I need to remember that they close Lowell Rd. at Barrett’s Mill Rd. Once I got there, I realized that I did the same thing last year. I was trying to get in the back way to the parking lot in the center of town. The right thing to do is to go up Main St. to Thoreau St, then bypass the detour signs to one of the side streets, like Hubbard St.

Hamburgers

I made my first grilled hamburgers of the season.

I’d forgotten just how good these are. Here’s my recipe:

Makes 4 burgers.

1 lb hamburger

1 tbsp horseradish

1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce

1 egg

1 slice whole grain bread, crumbed

Mix all this together. Make four equal weight patties. Grill to taste, about 4 minutes on side one, two minutes on side two. Put cheese on top after flipping to side 2.

I’ll admit that these measurements are approximate. I just dump stuff in, but I think this is about right. Instead of bread, I often just whack a half a bun in the Cuisinart.
